Import VAT and Customs Duty Notice from Fetchr
As you may be aware, the UAE and KSA Governments have each taken concrete steps for the introduction of Value Added Tax (“"VAT”) starting on 1st January 2018.
As of December 31st, 2017, we have not received any notice or response to the notices sent from our side. Hence, it is our understanding that you, as our clearance agent/partner will pay Import VAT and Customs duty at the port in KSA or file it with your periodic return in UAE. The duty and tax paid will be charged back to Fetchr through a tax invoice along with all the required documentation and that the credit terms to make any payments would be as per our contract. Any delay caused to the shipments due to not respecting the contract would completely be borne by the freight forwarder.
You are expected to pay the import VAT and customs duty on our clients behalf to the authorities and be compliant with the law.
